The NAMI Family-to-Family Education Program is a free 12-week course for families of individuals with severe brain disorders (mental illnesses) taught by trained family members.
The course discusses the clinical treatment of major illnesses and teaches knowledge and skills that family members need to relate to those with mental illness more effectively. They include learning about feelings and facts, diagnosis information on schizophrenia, major depression and mania, and other illnesses, biology and new research about the brain, problem-solving, medications, empathy, self-care, communication skills, rehabilitation and services available, and fighting stigma.
